Faul in Our Stars

Five Stars *****

The Fault In Our Stars by John Green

Review as seen on Goodreads.com

Amazing because of the writing style, the deepness of the characters, the underlying (and overlying) themes, and the emotions that it provokes. John Green never fails to write wonderful stories that don't dumb down the harshness of reality yet still hold strong notes of hope.

Terrible because of the reality of the story. I have very personal experiences with terminal cancer in my family as well as friends, both in my past and present life. John Green describes the true awful and degrading nature of cancer. He beautifully illustrates how although cancer victims are strong and brave, in the end it degrades and leaves people physically (sometimes mentally) helpless and weak when they most want to be independent and strong. I found this book hard to read at times because to the truth that it held.

Heart wrenching because of much of what I stated above. I grew to care for Hazel, Augustus, and Isaac (and everyone else) and I hated to see what they had to go through. Although I knew Hazel's cancer was terminal, she didn't usually act like that, which made it even harder when she talked about her inevitable death.

Hilarious because it's John Green and he has an amazing sense of humor. Many times I found myself laughing out loud while debating whether I should cry at the same time. He weaves humor in perfectly with dark nature of his story.

This is my favorite John Green book since Looking For Alaska, maybe even my favorite John Green book of all. This book pierces though the skin and heads straight for the heart.

Just finished up finals today with my math and spanish finals. I think I did good on them, fingers crossed. I've beed studying non stop for a week and now that I'm done with school till fall, I don't know what to do with myself. School days that aren't needed

Because of memorial day weekend I have to get up at 5:30 tomorrow, a Saturday. That should be illegal for teens to have to wake up at that time (more like 'be up'). There was going to be a dance tonight but much to my friends dismay (my happiness) there wasn't. I promised them I'd go to the next dance and those thing's go till 10 and the school it was at was far way so I'd get even less sleep than usual.

Today was pointless. So our school has safety patrol (no point at all) and today is the day where they thank the people on patrol by taking us to a movie and giving us food (no complaints there). We got to school and played card games and watched a movie till 10. Then we played bingo with our principal till 11. All 5 people who won were from the same table except for 1 person :P They got all the candy! After that we ate some gross Domino's pizza that was almost dripping with grease and drank some soda. Next off to an imax 3D movie! Shrek 4. I personally think they could have left it at the first Shrek. It was ok, really cheesy and predictable and useless... ok the movie was bad.

There was a really funny lady that worked at the theater who kept yelling at us for not getting in a proper line. Apparently we were too cluttered and it was a fire hazard. Our vice principal was like "When you hand her your ticket smile nicely and walk safely into the theater so her brain doesn't explode, ok? we'll kill her with kindness and politeness today." yeaahhhh... Plus it doesn't help that Sammy snuck three soda's in by stuffing them down the front of his pants. He kept telling us how he was freezing down in his area... nice to know. There were 2 big bulges in the front of his pants covered by his sweater(the other was in his pocket) When he sat down one slipped down his pants and he had to unzip his pants to get it out. Haha. Some how Kyle and Bear managed to slip two 12 packs of Dr. Pepper each. Don't ask me I have no idea how they got away with that... and Matt actually drank the soda that was in Sammy's pants, he didn't care that much I guess...

After the movie we went back to school so we could get picked up by our parents and go home. Useful school day filled with learning and education right?

How To Train Your Dragon

I saw How to Train Your Dragon this weekend and I loved it. I thought it had funny parts and was overall pretty good! It was really different from the book but that made it separate and unique. It's definitely worth spending your money on to see in theaters.

Fang

My cousin came over for the weekend and she bought me an early birthday present. You'd never guess what it was! That's right, Fang!!!!! I've successfully finished it in one day and lets just say, I don't think there will be another....Actually there probably will be but it's hard to say. I'm mad so I'm just gonna pretend that the last chapter didn't happen >:( It was good though and everyone should definitely read it if they like the series. I'm so mad and sad...at the same time, which is even worse!

origin of soulmates

I love this idea. Some people believe that the origin of soul mates came from an ancient philosopher. He believed that people originally had two arms, two legs, and two faces. The Greek god Zeus, feeling scared of and threatened by these people, divided them into half leaving them to eternally wander the earth in search of their other half.
